ISA Software, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Technical Centre and the US Department of Defense (DoD) Wright-Patterson Airforce Base have selected the CHILL/SIM-C platform and architecture in support of modelling and simulation analysis of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) in the US National Airspace System.

The project team, which also includes partners from FAA Tech Centre, US DoD, US Air Force, ISA Software, CACI, and Booz Allen Hamilton are developing interoperable network based simulation models to help in the assessment of the impact of UAS operations on the civil airspace system.

The solution, integrates the USAF CAST UAS model (developed using the ‘FLAMES’ Constructive Simulation Framework from Ternion) with the ISA Software RAMS Plus ATC Simulation tool.
The tools operate together within the SIM-C modelling framework to carry out network based modelling of UAS operations within the National Airspace System.
